Thank you to all of our volunteers who joined us on Wednesday to remove invasive species in Easter Lake Park! Your efforts will help to restore our woodlands bringing better habitat and biodiversity to the park while also helping to prevent erosion and sediment loading into Easter Lake!

Next time you’re enjoying the trail at Easter Lake, be sure to check out our new sign by the stormwater wetland! Do you know how this stormwater wetland is working to protect Easter Lake? Better check out this sign to find out!

Exciting progress has been made at a stream stabilization project at Easter Lake Park! Step-pool structures (pictured here) were recently constructed and will address streambank erosion by slowing down stormwater and helping the channel change elevation in a more stable way. This project will help reduce future sediment and phosphorus loading into Easter Lake improving water quality! Keep an eye out as we share more updates on this project’s progress!

When most of your watershed is in private ownership, you need individual landowners to step up and do what they can so that collectively the watershed is healthier and Easter Lake is cleaner. To the more than 100 landowners that have used soil quality restoration to reduce stormwater runoff and need for fertilizers we thank you for the example you have set! If every household did just one thing, even as simple as a rain barrel, Easter Lake would be much better protected now and into the future. Interested in soil quality restoration?
