By taking the effort to implement projects like rain gardens and soil quality restoration at your homes, we were able to reduce 914,960 gallons of stormwater runoff in 2020 - But why does this matter?
To all of our watershed residents who have worked with us throughout this challenging year to complete these exciting and beneficial conservation projects we say “thank you!” The future of clean water in Easter Lake and down stream is in our hands and no action is too small. Next up, we are looking for our next watershed stewards to take on projects of their own. Visit www.Easterlake.org/conservationpractices to learn more!
Just two weeks after planting natives in their yard, one of our watershed residents identified 23 butterflies consisting of 6 different species, and several species of bees and other pollinators! What you plant in your yard does make a difference for pollinators and our local water quality! This year we are excited to share and celebrate our residents who have undertaken these multi-beneficial native planting projects! 😊🦋🐝🌼
With all this winter snow it’s hard to imagine gardening right now, but today we’re celebrating the watershed residents that installed rain gardens this year! These gardens serve as functional landscaping features helping to soak in rainwater improving water quality, while also providing pollinator habitat! Interested in a rain garden?
